After trying one of the most popular shades ‘Trophy Wife’ from Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick range, I was intrigued to try a couple of more shades. Though I usually buy 4-5 shades from any particular lip collection, as these lipsticks are on the pricer side, I just went and bought one more shade to try from the brand. The lipstick I have on my review table today is ‘Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Video Star’. This lipstick seems slightly different from the one I tried earlier, mainly because it seems to have a thinner consistency and a comparatively cheaper price.
Let’s get into the detailed review.
Price:
INR 1650 for 5 ml (can be bought on Nykaa). The retail price of this particular shade is lower than that of the shade Trophy Wife which retails for INR 1825

Packaging:
The lipstick comes in beautiful outer packaging with a transparent front. The packaging comes with a lip swatch of the lipstick made on the outer covering. Details of the product are mentioned on the back of the packaging. I bought this lipstick a couple of months ago so I do not have the outer packaging to show.
The actual lipstick tube is a regular rectangular shaped plastic tube which is not completely transparent. The tube has a frosted finish which somehow makes the lipstick looks luxurious to me. The lid of the lipstick closes securely making it safe to travel with. The tube comes with a regular doe-foot applicator attached to the screw-on lid.
My Experience with Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Video Star:
The shade Video Star is a bright pink colored lipstick with blue undertones. The color looks beautiful on the lips and is good to be used for any Indian/Western outfits. The shade is flattering on many skin tones and it does not make my teeth look yellow. Though the color is nicely pigmented, the first coat of the lipstick may not give a fully opaque lip. I personally prefer to apply 2 coats of the lipstick in order to make it look even and make it stay longer.
Consistency wise, the shade Video Star is slightly thinner as compared to the shade Trophy Wife (which I have reviewed earlier). Though this is not too runny, it is comparatively easier to work with. The formula of the lipstick is very soft and smooth to apply and is fast drying. Once dried, the lipcolor is completely budge-proof and is non-transferrable. This makes the color have a longer staying power, even with full meals.
The biggest con of this shade is the fact that it is completely non-forgiving. If you have dried/chapped lips, the color would look terrible on your lips. It has the tendency to accentuate every little flaw on the lip. To make the color look as beautiful as it is, scrubbing the lips prior to lipstick application is recommended.
Overall Experience:
To be completely honest, I loved the way this color looked on me. It made me feel happy. I am not exactly a fan of the formula, though I did like it but it is not the best I have tried. Video Star might not be an everyday choice of color for most ladies, but I personally love to flaunt bright lip colors. Such color especially looks good with Indian Outfits. The shade Video Star is not a must-have color in your collection (as you can find a similar shade in much affordable range), but if you wish to try a high end bright pink liquid lipstick, then this one is worth a try.

- The price of Video Star might be lower than that of the shade Trophy Wife, it still is a bit on the higher side
