Liquid lipsticks have been very popular since the last few years. There are a number of Indian and International brands launching new formulas, some of them being better than the others. Today’s review would be about ‘Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Trophy Wife’, a very famous liquid lipstick formula and an equally famous shade.
Price: INR 1825 for 5 ml (can be bought on Nykaa)
The international price for the lipstick is $20 which almost equals to Rs 1400 but it has a slightly higher price point in the Indian market which might be due to the customs and duties charged in India. I bought my lipstick from Australia and so I paid a different price. Huda Beauty website does ship internationally, but additional custom duty might be applied to your order while delivery. In the Indian market, Huda Beauty products can be bought either from Instagram sellers or through Nykaa, which is their authorized retailer in India.

Packaging:
I bought the lipstick from outside the country and so I do not have the original packaging of the lipstick. The lipstick comes packed in a large outer box with a transparent slider lid. The packaging comes with a lip swatch of the lipstick made on the outer covering. Other details about the product are also mentioned on the outer covering as well. The actual lipstick is a translucent plastic tube with a black screw-on lid. The sturdy lid and the non-glass tube makes it easier to travel with. Like many other liquid lipsticks, this one too has a doe foot applicator which makes application easier.
My Experience with Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Trophy Wife:
Color: The shade Trophy Wife is a dusty pink color when initially applied. After a couple of minutes of application, the color might look deeper depending upon your skin color. The color does suit a number of skin tones but it looks different on different people.
Pigmentation: The shade Trophy Wife is a very pigmented shade. I am not too sure about the pigmentation of some of the light colors from the collection, but this particular one imparts a full color in just a single swipe
Texture: The formula is very smooth to apply and do not feel too uncomfortable even after drying. Drying takes a couple of minutes after which the formula might start to feel little dry, but nothing to make you uncomfortable. For the lipstick to work well, lips must be properly exfoliated and moisturized prior to application. If this step is missed, the lipstick tends to settle in the fine lines and might even feel uncomfortably dry.
Staying Power: These Matte lipsticks have amazing staying power. The color is claimed to be completely non-transferable by the brand, but in my experience, there is a bit of transfer in the initial hour of application (even if the lipstick seems to be completely dry). After the initial hour, the lipstick becomes completely budge-proof which helps it to stay longer. Although the lipstick stays well after snacks, a big oily meal causes the lipstick to fade from the inner sections.
Overall Verdict:
Overall, I would say that I am neither a fan of the product nor do I hate it. I in fact love the formula but the shade Trophy Wife is not something that I would use on a regular basis. The shade looks different on different skin tones and for me, it is a deeper dusty rose shade which looks a little darker after application. The price of the lipstick is on the higher side, so until you are willing to spend more than 1800 bucks on a lipstick, this is not an option for you.
