Maybelline Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick Romantic (30)

‘A girl can never have too many lipsticks’, this quote is true especially for a lipstick hoarder like me. Whenever I like a particular lipstick or to be precise, the packaging of the lipstick, I tend to buy a bunch of them to try on. The same thing happened when I saw Maybelline’s Matte INk Liquid Lipsticks. I had my eyes on these for quite some time now and when I saw them on a discount I bought 5 shades. Today’s review would be about Maybelline Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick in the shade Romantic, which is a beautiful pink from the collection.

Packaging:

Like many other lipsticks I buy, the packaging of this one too was one of the major factors for me buying the 5 shades I have. These liquid lipsticks come in a square kind of packaging with a white-colored screw-on lid. The color of the tube represents the color of the lipstick which makes it easier to select the desired color. Though the packaging is not the exact representation of the color, but it is very similar to the actual color. For example, the shade Romantic appears to be much brighter if the packaging is considered but on the lips, it is comparatively darker.

The wand provided with the liquid lipstick is a doe foot applicator with a precise pointed top and a little hole in the center. This helps in picking the right amount of product without the need of redipping the wand in the tube while applying the color. The packaging is sturdy and travel-friendly.

My Experience with Maybelline Matte Ink Romantic:

The shade Romantic is a beautiful magenta pink shade which does look good on the lips. Though the color makes my teeth look slightly yellow, I still like the way it looks with a full face of makeup. Romantic is a kind of pink which is good to be worn with Indian outfits. It might not be the right choice of pink for everyday use, as it is slightly on the brighter side, but for the special occasions, it is definitely a shade that can draw a lot of attention.

Being a Super Stay Matte Ink, product, I expected the formula to be long-wearing and drying and it is both. The lipstick does not get transferred once completely dry and it does feel kind of makes the lips dry. Thankfully the lips do not feel too uncomfortable nor do they become patchy. The lipstick feels a little sticky on the lips too, but it is completely budging proof.

The pigmentation of the lipstick is amazing too, one single swipe gives a fully opaque color which stays put for a long period of time. A small meal or a couple of cups of coffee cannot move the lipstick, but a large oily meal can certainly affect the pigmentation of the color.

The lipstick has a sweet fragrance to it, which might bother some ladies. I did like the fragrance till the lipstick was swatched just on my hands, but on the lips the fragrance it too overpowering. Thankfully the fragrance goes away a couple of minutes after application.

Overall Experience:

Overall, I did like the color of the lipstick, but as I am not a fan of products that dry my lips, I am not completely happy with the way I feel with the lipstick on. The staying power of the lipstick is amazing and it is not too uncomfortable. If you are someone looking for an affordable option of liquid lipstick in a great formula and you do not bother about slight drying of lips, this might be a good option for you!
